Once again, 32 eager local Victoria highschool students stormed the UVic campus, armed with knowledge of crime scene protocols and case details that lead them to a (mock) clandestine burial on Saturday. Our faunal and ballistic experts challenged the students to think critically about the evidence found and whether it fit with the details of the case, and Saanich police was there to test their skills in scene documentation, communication, and properly securing the crime scene (Thanks Cst. Hunter!).

A huge THANK YOU to Let's Talk Science co-ordinators, Anthony Fradette and Anna Patten for working with me to put on the event, and also to the 12 anthropology undergraduate volunteers for leading each team so passionately. Becky Wigen and Dr. Ranald Donaldson did a fabulous job as our experts. Saanich Police totally came through as usual and we thank them for the continued support.
This was our 5th annual offering of Forensic Anthropology Day, and I'm told the event sells out in less than 48 hours. Let's keep this momentum going, see you NEXT YEAR!
